Justice is served!

In regards to my "Immigration Reform Now!" look. I'd like to post this link:

The law SB1070 in the prime of it's controversy has been stopped, parts of it. Most of the very controversial aspects to the law will no longer take affect. So after marching the state capitol, wearing the cause, and spreading the word, the law of attraction has worked in the favor of thousands of protesters in changing the law. At midnight there will be parts of the law enacted, however what remains is something that can still be dealt with the same way it has been dealt with before. For the second time:

Legalize Arizona

The Outfit: I had this shirt on all day and didn't do much. I originally got it for free a few days after Governor Jan Brewer signed the law. I decided to just make a very simple color pallet with the clothes and it ended up working flawlessly.

The Cause: Law SB1070 takes into affect in Arizona on Thursday. After it is passed Police officials by law will have to ask people for their citizenship status if reasonable suspicion of illegal immigration status arises. The law's reasonable suspicion is ridiculous. This Thursday the Arizona will live in infamy.

Playing Artist

Color is the avoided creeper within my artistic ability. For the longest time my focus has been black and white, charcoal, graphite, and so on. Now in the attempt of trying to teach myself to paint I'm badly stuck on the art of blending all over again. I got myself three weeks of finding things to keep me busy at home so I don't go out and spend anymore money before Paris. I think art should be one of my bigger priorities. Any tips out there?
PS. The top picture is from the April 2010 of Conde Nast Travel magazine and the second one I got from the AA + Lookbook.nu collab book.

The Denim Shirt

The thrift store craze is in full swing and with Goodwill comes the 80's. Perfect for brands that thrive off vintage appealing clothes like American Apparel. Except with thrift you save and it's individual. This shirt by Ralph Lauren is one of my favorite buys under $5. I like to use it as something more European and unique because of it's length and fit on my body. I'm wearing this look tomorrow for the opening of H&M in Scottsdale. How the environment affects you

Today's look is going to the movies! (Despicable Me, lol) However, the look didn't start like this. Originally I was going for Parasian, something black and white. For the summer. I had dockers, socks to my calves, but the shirt wasn't exactly what I wished to adorn the look with. So out of nowhere (perhaps) I pulled out my Royal Blue Deep-V Summer Shirt from American Apparel which was in the "sell" bag because I got sick of Deep-V's and tried it on to give the poor shirt some mercy. Bam! I had what I needed to wear. Black and blue. Something so tricky to pull off because of the lack of contrast the two could end up having, but when done right, something that makes blue sparks (the hottest kind!). Then I felt like perhaps showing some hip and to see if I could go with a belt. Tried black and white, red and blue, and ended up with leathery type accessories because I feel like the somehow are supposed to be together. Once I started photographing the complete look it all clicked.
I'M WEARING MY ROOM!
The reason I wouldn't let this outfit go like my Parasian inspiration is because it's something so familiar. It's my sanctuary.

Preparing for Paris

Sweater, t-shirt, socks, necklaces, ring. Grand total of $35!
I shouldn't be spending money here, while I can buy better things there.
So this is it, *gulps* I hope.

NOH8 Scottsdale Open Shoot

Today NOH8 Campaign did an open shoot in Scottsdale, AZ. The event was not one to be missed. I say so because in a near mishap with a decision I would've regretted in not going, I went. Here's why: NOH8 Campaign is such a strong, if not the biggest advocacy group out here to repeal Proposition 8 in California. I believe that we're not far from having more states legalizing the controversial subject because of chains. So far the USA only has a few states that have enabled same sex couples to wed. Mostly in New England and also in Iowa. What I see happening in a state with so much political power, (CA), is a shift that would create more states to transition ultimately resulting in a country where same-sex marriage is legal. Not quickly though. Ron Lee, the announcer at today's event mentioned that there is no way that 10 years ago his own mother would've participated in such a photo shoot. That to see such young people, one of us which was with his mom, doing such a shoot creates hope in the future for the next decades to come. So without further-ado, the NOH8 Campaign may be just an advocacy group, but they're bold and never going to quit. Find out if they're coming to your city by looking at their website http://www.noh8campaign.com/ or following their twitter @NOH8Campaign

Break from fashion to furniture // My Room

Undoubtedly fashion and home design go hand in hand. Trends, colors, textures, placement all correlate with each of the subjects equally. I have an equal distribution of love for each categories equally. Since many have already seen what I wear, I think It'd be a good idea to see what my walls wear. Ready for an visually eclectic ride? Here goes:

A very handy widget on my wall is the white hanger holder (I guess) that I use all the time to plan the next days outfit. The actual hanger was D.I.Y. Then I have the blanket on my wall that I bought in Mexico.
I don't know why this is underlined. But basically that's my art wall. I'm planning on studying art history so I have to have a story for every single piece in my room & the walls need to never be bear.
This is my bedside retreat. It's still kind of cluttered but the way that it's all put together in little boxes and bags makes it practical for me and accessible.
This is how it looked like earlier today.

The computer serving table! Something super handy that folds up when I need to have access to my closet or if I just want it down. One of my favorite things in my room.

Wear I rest my head. Where to start? Well there is not starting point and there is no ending point. I could stare aimlessly at all the things that are on this wall. All memorable pieces. Busy, however laid out so it's not overwhelming. The next project is this: I'm going to make frames, cover them in fabric (probably like that sweater vest that has was hanging on the cat hanger), and place each of them into the windows. Reason is that I love the natural light the windows bring in, however with the Arizona sun it can be way too much sometimes and my room even heats up. So when they're done I'll be giving my house curb appeal and be stylishly giving my room some shade.

These are all my books I have in my room! It has many interesting things within it. Like my cactus, a little toy duck, paints, various art books, and who knows? It's an adventure in that white book case/ shelve thing. I also like to use the cushions for when I need to sit somewhere that's not soft? Way to state the obvious. And the shelf thing used to be black and I painted it white.
Finally this is the wall the contradicts everything in my room. Bland, cold, uninteresting. But I do have a few ideas up my sleeves, however I would always appreciate more! Seriously, I love hearing about how some one else would solve this solution.

AND there you have it. My style placed on the walls of my room, within the random nooks and crannies, and escape. It's a sacred place for me, only because it represents me so well and it's all mine. What does your room mean to you? How's it decorated? AND what do you think about my room?

Recent looks, recent news

RECENT LOOKS

Basically black and beige minus the boring. I enjoyed the contrast between the two and it was and easy, comfortable, and well out together look. Note: this is the tallest structure in my city!

White and Beige + the summer 2010 look. Rolled pants, easy slip on sandals, assorted bracelets, and the belt I found created such an easy relaxed look. This felt especially liberating considering that the white-t is pretty see through! But who gives? A girl wore a shirt that says 'GET FUCKED' to the gym. Sorry for those conservative people I live around.

Out of these three I'd have to say I like this one the best! Why? Well I love the lack of contrast look just as much as the way too much contrast look. These colors don't clash but they sure stand out. Yellow+gray+brown+off-white. Hell yeah!

RECENT NEWS

AMAZING NEWS. Over the weekend an amazing trip to Paris, France has been planned. I'll officially be there from August 8-15. I cannot believe how this all happened either. After following http://www.stylescrapbook.com/'s stay in Paris for Mens Fashion week I became even more inspired then I ever have been to venture to the city of love. I watched her posts and eventually decided to see hostel rates and was amazed! At dinner I brought up how cheap some rates and stuff were and immediately my parents shut me down on the whole idea. But after I mentioned how badly I'd like to travel ANYWHERE they began opening their minds. The real turning point was when my step-dad's mom, my g-ma, just said, "Bueno, si tu cueres viajar a donde sea, yo te voy a dar $500." (Well, if you wish to travel to whereever, I'm going to give you $500). My mouth fell to the floor and light began shining all around the seat across from me. She was an angel and my ticket to Paris. Basically now as a graduation gift I get to travel to my dream city and see all the spots for a week! I'll be with my cousin and dad and some of my cousin's friends.
QUICK QUESTION:
Besides the regular spots of Paris, what else is there that's a must see? I'd appreciate information on vintage shopping, night clubs, food, and so on. Thank you :)

That's been my life this past week. That and eating amazing Panamanian dishes.

Find(s) of the week: Blue, Red & Brass Belt + Native American Bandana // July 4-10

Since I think I missed a find, I'm posting two:
I love the Blue and Red belt so much. The strap is leather, the handle brass, and it's the perfect thing to make any outfit this summer POP! It's flashy but discreet. Something I strive to be. It's by Cintas but I purchased this at Goodwill. Grand total= $0.99!

Ps. Hype this look! http://lookbook.nu/look/854327-Leaving-this-soon

The next is a bandanna with a great Native American print. Although I have it worn in the 'bandit' style I'd probably be mostly seen wearing it in the 60's scarf way. I've been looking for a bandanna for such a long time now. Well at least one that wouldn't get me shot. So there! Oh and perhaps the bandanna craze is long gone, however it's pretty timeless and versatile. Brand unknown, purchased at Goodwill. Grand total: $1.50

Look Graveyard

I'm guilty of deleting looks on Lookbook quite a lot. I figure that if they're not getting any hypes it's because they're probably not liked or they're just taking up room for my new looks. After all, since I have no lookbook status right now, what's deleting one good look and saving the piece for an even better one? So Please say good-bye to:

And that's all. I feel attached to some so they stay.
